Basic Concept of Cast Iron Flat Plate

Basic Concept 

Definition: cast iron flat plate is a plane reference apparatus used for workpiece testing or delineation, plays a key role in machinery manufacturing and other industries, is the basic reference tool for the inspection of the workpiece before leaving the factory.

Production materials: mainly made of high-quality fine gray cast iron and other materials, such as HT200-300, QT400-600, etc., the hardness of its working surface is generally 170-240HB. 

Structure and Classification 

Structure: mainly divided into ribbed plate and box type, the appearance of the box type is more common, and the shape of the working surface has a rectangular, square, round and so on.

Classification by use: can be divided into inspection plate, scribing plate, assembly plate, riveting and welding plate, welding plate, pressure sand plate and so on.

Classification according to accuracy level: it is divided into 000 level, 00 level, 0 level, 1 level, 2 level, 3 level and so on, among which more than 2 level is inspection plate, 3 level is scribing plate, and the lower the level is, the higher the accuracy is.

Characteristics 

Good accuracy retention: after wear and tear, it can be re-scraped to restore its accuracy, and it can maintain high accuracy of flatness and parallelism for a long time.

Convenient and accurate measurement: the flatness of the parts can be checked by coloring method, which has the advantages of accuracy, intuition and convenience, and it is smooth to push the table base and workpiece on the scraped and researched cast iron flat plate without astringent feeling, which ensures the accuracy of measurement.

Excellent material performance: good stability, wear resistance, shock absorption and small thermal deformation rate, can withstand heavy loads, in long-term use and temperature changes can still maintain good performance.

Strong machinability: the working surface can be machined with V-shape, T-shape, U-shape groove, dovetail groove, round holes, long holes, etc., in order to meet the different needs of use.

Specifications 

Standard specifications: cast iron plate / cast iron platform according to GB/T22095-2008 standard manufacturing, common specifications are 100 × 100mm, 200 × 100mm, 200 × 200mm, 300 × 200mm, 300 × 300mm, 400 × 300mm, 400 × 400mm, and so on, the largest can be up to 8000 × 3000mm. Even bigger.

Non-standard specifications: customized production can be carried out according to the user's special needs to meet different working scenarios and use requirements.

Technical requirements 

Appearance quality: the working surface shall not have defects such as sand holes, air holes, cracks, slag, shrinkage, scratches, bruises, rust spots, etc., which will seriously affect the appearance and usability; the casting surface shall be cleaned of sand and leveled, and painted firmly.

Sand hole processing: on the working surface of the flat plate with precision grade 0-3, the sand hole with diameter less than 15mm is allowed to be plugged with the same material, and its hardness should be less than the hardness of the surrounding material, and the sand holes plugged on the working surface should be no more than 4, and the distance between the sand holes should be no less than 80mm. 

Machining process: the working surface is usually processed by scraping process, and for the working surface of the flat plate of grade 3 which is processed by scraping, the roughness of its surface should be 5μm. The maximum permissible value of Ra is 5μm, meanwhile, the flat plate should be demagnetized and processed for stability.

Installation device: on the two opposite sides of the flat plate, there should be threaded holes (or cylindrical holes) for installing handles or lifting rings, and the design of the device position should minimize the deformation caused by handling. If threaded holes (or grooves) are set on the working surface of the plate, the part should not be higher than the working surface.

Application areas 

Mechanical manufacturing: used in machine tools, metallurgical machinery, mining machinery and other equipment parts processing, measuring, marking and equipment installation and commissioning, is to ensure the quality and accuracy of mechanical products and important tools.

Automobile manufacturing: in the automobile assembly line and parts processing, it can ensure the assembly precision and testing accuracy of engine bracket, transmission case and other parts.

Aerospace: Used in the processing and testing of aerospace parts, it plays an important role in ensuring the high precision and reliability of aerospace products.

Chemical industry: in the manufacturing and installation of chemical equipment, it can be used as a reference platform for equipment installation, debugging and testing.

Hardware: In the processing and testing of hardware products, it can be used for the delineation, measurement and assembly of workpieces to improve the quality and precision of hardware products.

Instrument Manufacturing: Provide high-precision datum plane for the processing and assembly of instrument parts to ensure the accuracy and stability of the instrument.
